About HISD
Welcome to Hidalgo ISD – Where Pride Meets Purpose
At Hidalgo Independent School District, education is more than a mission—it’s a legacy. For over a century, we’ve been committed to empowering every student to succeed in college, career, and life. Located along the U.S.-Mexico border in deep South Texas, our district proudly serves the communities of Hidalgo, Granjeno, Las Milpas, and parts of McAllen and Pharr, covering over 36 square miles of culturally rich, family-oriented neighborhoods.
Our district is home to four elementary schools, one junior high, a comprehensive high school, and a nationally recognized Early College High School where students can graduate with both a diploma and college credit—many even earning associate degrees by the time they finish high school.
We take pride in creating a nurturing, inclusive environment where every child feels seen, supported, and challenged to rise. Our staff is dedicated, our community is united, and our students are truly exceptional.
