 Martin Cepeda is a lifelong resident of Hidalgo, Texas, with more than 35 years of experience in law enforcement and public service. A proud graduate of Hidalgo High School’s Class of 1980, he went on to complete 45 college hours in Criminal Justice at the University of Texas Pan American (UTPA).

 

     Mr. Cepeda began his law enforcement career in 1981 as a Police Officer in Hidalgo. Over the course of his 35 ½ years of service, he advanced through various roles and ultimately retired in 2017 as the Chief Fraud Investigator for Hidalgo County. Throughout his career, he earned numerous law enforcement certifications, including the distinguished Master Peace Officer certification.

 

     In addition to his law enforcement career, Mr. Cepeda has dedicated himself to serving his community through leadership and governance. He served on the Hidalgo ISD School Board for 23 years and held office as Mayor of the City of Hidalgo for six years.

 

     As Hidalgo ISD’s Chief Safety & Security Officer, Mr. Cepeda continues his lifelong commitment to protecting and serving his community, ensuring the safety and well-being of students, staff, and families across the district.
